STLDR’s January “Vehicle of the Month” belongs to Charlie Barbaglia (MoparChas) of High Ridge Missouri. It’s a 495 cubic inch, 1970 Dodge Challenger. His Challeger is fueled with E85, “It’s all throttle no bottle!” Best ET: 9.65 @ 138.25 mph in the 1/4 mile.

Central Illinois Dragstrip is in search of new management.

We have decided to make some management changes for the 2012 season. Many thanks to Bob for his efforts in our inaugural year. We are actively pursuing a management team to lead us to a fun and profitable 2012 season. We expect to release or 2012 schedule early in January. We have some great events and track improvements in the works. We will post an address to send your pit space reservation fees in soon. Chris Karamesines’ 204 mph run. Alton IL

This is Chris Karamesines’ 204 mph run in “The Chizler”. April 24th 1960. Alton Dragstrip. Some contend this was the first (unofficial) car to run 200 mph in 1960. The official record goes to Don Garlits in 1964.
