‘Cuda Chris’ Mitchell Memorial at Gateway International

For many years Chris’ passion has been racing. Throughout his life he raced everything from dirt bikes to stock cars and for the past 18 years, he loved drag racing. Those of you at the track know him as “Cuda Chris”. Most weekends he would load up all of his racing gear and his 68 Barracuda notchback and head to the track. Chris enjoyed hanging out in his garage, working on his car with friends, meeting with fellow racers, and the friendly competition. He felt pride with the roar of the “Cuda’s” engine.

Last July, our lives life took a significant turn when Chris was diagnosed with lung cancer. The word “quit” was not in Chris’ vocabulary so he vowed to fight for his life. He entered a new race. A race to beat Cancer.

On April 24, 2010 Chris lost his battle with cancer. Chris was a one of a kind man. A loving father to Ashley and Kyle, and an amazing husband to Cheryl. He was a loyal man and loved his friends and family.

We would like to thank everyone for gathering today in memory of Chris. We are humbled by everyone’s support. May the memories you shared with him last a lifetime.

We would like to send a special thank you to the following: Ken Clinton, Ted Lipka, Neal Goin, Steve Broeker, Ron Stoneking, Don Rauch, Bob Pleasant and his brother-in-law Rob. Thank you to Darin Myhre for taping the event and to Rich Schaefer and all the Gateway International Staff for helping coordinate this event.

Prayer:
Lord, those of us who knew Chris here at Gateway knew him as a good racer, a good friend and a fine man. Though we will miss him, we thank you for the time we had with him and the memories we will have forever. Thank you Lord for placing Chris in our family. We now place him in your care. Amen.
